INSTITUTIONAL LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR THE ENDOCRINE SOCIETY JOURNALS ONLINE

The Endocrine Society's Journals Online: Terms and Conditions

Access to The Endocrine Society's Journals Online is over the Internet via the Subscribing Institution's Internet Protocol Addresses (IP addresses).

Authorized users from the Subscribing Institution will have online access to the abstracts and full texts of articles from journals for which an online subscription fee has been paid. Authorized users are defined as employees, faculty, staff and students officially affiliated with the Subscribing Institution, as well as authorized clients of the Subscribing Institution's library facilities, including occasional public walk-in users who access The Endocrine Society journals through stations physically located on the Subscribing Institution's premises. Authorized Users also includes persons affiliated with remote premises or campuses of the Subscribing Institution that are administered from the Subscribing Institution's site.

Access may be granted from workstations anywhere on the Subscribing Institution's premises. Dial-in access from outside the Subscribing Institution's premises is permitted to users whose primary work is located within the Subscribing Institution's premises.

Permitted access by authorized users includes searching, downloading, printing and storing of individual articles for scholarly research, educational and personal use. Such copies may be shared with non-authorized users provided such sharing is solely for the purpose of scholarly communication or educational use, and there are no commercial benefits or purposes. Copying and storing is limited to single copies of a reasonable number of individual articles; distribution of copies by any means, as well as posting to the Internet and other electronic networks and repeated or systematic reproduction, is prohibited.

The Endocrine Society's Journals Online electronic form may be used as a source for Inter Library Loan (ILL) whereby articles are printed and these print copies are delivered by postal mail or fax to fulfill ILL requests from an academic, research or other non-commercial library. Articles may not be sent in digital format or by electronic means to fulfill ILL requests. Requests received from for-profit companies or directly from individuals shall be denied by the Subscribing Institution.

The Endocrine Society is the owner of all right, title and interest, including without limitation copyright, translation rights, redistribution rights, and the right to produce the material in alternate media, for any and all material that can be accessed under these Terms and Conditions. The Endocrine Society Journals Online and their content are subject to copyright, database protections, and other rights of The Endocrine Society under the laws of the United States and the country of use. Any copyright notices, other notices or disclaimers included in the material or accompanying screen display may not be removed, obscured or modified in any way. All copies in any format or medium, of any part of these online materials must include copyright notices.

The Subscribing Institution shall take all reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized use, including making reasonable efforts to inform authorized users of these Terms and Conditions. The Subscribing Institution will not be liable to The Endocrine Society for breach of these Terms and Conditions by any authorized user so long as the Subscribing Institution did not assist in or encourage such breach, nor permit such breach to continue after receiving actual or constructive notice thereof. In the event of continued abuse and/or infringement The Endocrine Society reserves the right to withhold access to the journal(s) from the Subscribing Institution, and may pursue any other legal or equitable remedies it may have.
