Endocrine Reviews—Two New Online Features!

The online version of Endocrine Reviews now has two new features. The first new feature is Rapid Electronic Publication (REP), which is already being used for Endocrinology and Molecular Endocrinology. As with these two journals, manuscripts will appear online soon after acceptance, usually within one week. PDFs of these manuscripts will appear online without copyediting, reformatting, or corrections, and will be citable by a Digital Object Identifier (DOI). The second new feature is Continuous Publication (CP) and is unique to Endocrine Reviews. When a manuscript is accepted, it will be sent to Cadmus Professional Communications for typesetting and proofing. Within two months, the final typeset version will be available online. This version will be completely paginated and fully citable.

This new approach means that the articles published in Endocrine Reviews will appear more quickly than in the past. First, the author’s manuscript will appear as an open access PDF through REP; second, the fully typeset version will appear online to subscribers; and third, the fully typeset version will be presented to subscribers both in print and online in a given issue.

These two new features offer important advantages over the previous publishing model used by Endocrine Reviews. One is open access. REP articles are available to all, so nonsubscribers will have an earlier opportunity to see new review articles. Another advantage is to authors whose work will be published much sooner than in the past.

If you have any questions or comments about these new features, please contact the Endocrine Reviews editorial office (Phone: 301-951-2603; endoreviews{at}endosociety.org)
